Simple introduction to Zoom online conferencing

If there’s one thing that has bloomed in 2020 its video conferencing, for both businesses and families who have been forced into isolation. Today I shall look briefly into using Zoom for families to keep in touch. Christmas is approaching and I have been asked several times about this.

All the setting up will be done by the organiser of what is called a “meeting” (its a business product originally remember). This is really good news for beginners as you won’t have to do much, just follow the instructions.

Its quite straight forward to be the organiser and set up a meeting, but it might not be trivial for a beginner, there’s a few options to check through. Probably not important for a family meeting but for business you’ll want to get everything right.

When the organiser arranges the meeting, you will be sent an email (or possibly just a text message).  If you are using your smart phone or tablet you should have installed the Zoom app (but I’m not going into that now).
