from 31st July 2023.

A new Beginners ICT & Life Skills course to run 4-7pm from March 9th***

  • First session for enrolment, assessments and course introduction (mandatory)
  • A 12/15 week course ending late June
  • The course is nationally certified Level 1 with a final exam (optional)

Application

To be offered a place on the course, you will have to complete an online or face-to-face assessment. The team will contact you about this. No previous formal qualifications are required for entry to these qualifications. There is an initial diagnostic assessment as part of the application process

To join the class, you must apply online (we cannot enrol you), but get in touch if you have problems

Assessment

Learners will be given the opportunity to practise their skills in a variety of contexts, prior to taking the assessments. Learners are required to pass an externally set, internally marked and external quality assured assessment. The assessment is online and on-demand.

Level 1+ english advisable

Funding

You’re eligible for full funding under the entitlement if you:

  • are a UK resident (for over 3 years)
  • are aged 19 and over
  • do not have the essential digital skills required to operate effectively in work and day to day life
    – this is assessed prior to the start of the course

Content

  1. Using devices and handling information
    basic understanding of hardware, software, operating systems and commonly used applications
  2. Creating and editing
    edit documents before moving on to creating and editing other types of digital media
  3. Communicating
    demonstrate an understanding of electronic communications, such as email and video calls.
  4. Transacting
    complete and submit an online form, comply with digital verification checks, and purchase an item or service online
  5. Using a computer and the internet safely and responsibly

Free parking is available on site, with a college issued permit

Langley College is under 5 minutes walk from Langley station, Elizabeth Line

  • Elizabeth line, every 30 minutes or less. Reading service
    • 20 minutes from Ealing Broadway (also stopping at Southall)
      Changing at Hayes from West Ealing and Hanwell
    • Hayes & Harlington and West Drayton, under 10 minutes
      Buses 140/X under 15 minutes Northolt to Hayes
    • From North London, via
      • Paddington or Bond St etc, Elizabeth Line
      • Willesden Junction and Shepherd’s Bush to Ealing Broadway
  • Off peak train fares apply before 4pm and after 7pm
  • Oyster is not valid (only up to West Drayton). Contactless card payment or ticket is required

Bus 81 from Heathrow (on 90/140/140X/120) passes nearest (20 minute walk). Or 3 from Uxbridge

Boat, 40 minutes from Slough Arm junction, West Drayton. Also cycle route
